One Saturday back in January we had such nice weather that I decided to take Lucy to the zoo. Josh's Dad was in town for the weekend so he came with us :)

Ok so I'm going to cheat and publish this post from almost 6 weeks ago. Since I use this blog as a way to document happenings in our household I hate not to include it...even though it's so late. I just haven't been making it a priority to update the blog lately.

A "couple of weeks ago" we got a lot of snow! I think there was at least 6-8 inches in Maryville.

Josh stayed home from work so shortly after lunch we headed outside to play! :)

Christmas 2010

We had a very busy but fun Christmas this year with both sides of the family. We spent Christmas Eve at my parent's house and then went back on Christmas day after spending a few hours at our house that morning. That night we drove down to Chattanooga to spend some time with Josh's family. It was such a busy weekend that I didn't take many pictures until we settled in Chattanooga for a few days. It also might have something to do with the fact that I opened my Christmas present from Josh and his parents on Sunday...a new camera!

It was so exciting to have a white Christmas this year and the snow even lasted for a couple of days. We went outside on Sunday afternoon to play in it. The guys made a path in the back yard to sled on...

Big Happenings at the Andrew's Household

OK so I'm REALLY behind on blogging and almost embarrassed to make this post since it's about a month late but I figured what the heck lol...

Whenever I ask Josh to finish remodeling the kitchen he always comes up with other projects to do lol. This time I got built-ins on either side of our fireplace and a new mantle. At first I didn't think I was going to be as excited about this project as getting the kitchen finished but it makes a world of difference in our living room. It looks great! It's not done yet but you get the general idea. (notice the Fall decorations are still up so this picture is old lol...)

And...we recently expanded our table so that it fits 6 instead of just 4. I found 2 additional chairs on Craigslist about 6 months ago and Josh built a leaf to make the table bigger. It may not sound like much but it's great when we have company over to all be able to sit together...

And, for those of you who haven't heard, our BIGGEST news is we have a baby on the way :) This picture was taken about 3 weeks ago when I was 9 weeks along. We're really excited!...the baby is due next July.

Costume Party

The M.O.Ms group had a costume party the week of Halloween. I dressed Lucy up as a ladybug (very original I know) but you can't beat $2.50 for a costume at Once Upon a Child. Plus I think every baby girl has to dress up as some sort of bug, lol

We took Lucy to East Maryville Baptist Church on Halloween to do some trunk or treating. I tried to get some pictures on the porch before we left but she was NOT in the mood to sit still, lol. Oh well...I thought this one turned out pretty cute :)

Oakes Farm

We finally made it to the pumpkin patch! I wanted to take Lucy last year but we waited until it was too late. So this year I was really glad when it worked out for us to go a few weeks ago. We decided to go to Oakes Farm in Corryton. They have a pumpkin patch, several corn mazes and lots of fun stuff for the kids to do...

Fall Decorations

I love decorating for Fall! I started collecting things before I was even married so that I could use it in my future home one day :) Most of it came from either Hobby Lobby or Cracker Barrel.

This year was the first time I used corn stalks to decorate the porch. Our neighbors did it last year and I loved how it looked so I decided to try it.

Josh's Dad recently came by for a visit on his way back from a weekend motorcycle ride. He didn't stay for long but Lucy was really excited to see him and she loved sitting on his Harley.

So I finally ditched the diaper bag and replaced it with a backpack that I can just put the essentials in (that way I don't have to put them in my purse). One of my friends in the M.O.Ms group has started selling really cute stuff with a company called Initials Inc. You get to create and personalize everything yourself. I know it's a little big for her to use as a backpack right now but I figured she could grow into it.

OK so I didn't mean for these to look like school pictures but this one kind of turned out that way...AH! She looks so grown up! sniff!

We've also been doing a little potty training around here...with the emphasis on VERY little lol. She has shown some interest in wanting to sit on the potty but has not even come close to actually using it. Most of the time when her diaper is off even for a few seconds she pees on the floor. Then we tell her that she needs to put her pee-pee in the potty and she runs and sits on the potty after the fact! lol

I really don't think she understands the concept behind it but she just wants to do everything we do...haha. At least she is getting some practice :)

Pumpkin Playdates

A couple of weeks ago Lucy and I had a playdate with the M.O.Ms Group where the kids made Mosaic Jack O Lanterns.

Fall Fun!

I love this time of the year and it always seems to FLY by... I can't believe it's almost the end of October! A couple of weeks ago we went to the Foothills Fall Festival and Lucy loved it! I think her favorite thing was this horsey ride that goes around in a little circle, lol. There was a whole play area for the little kids but she kept coming back to this and wanting to ride it again :)

As Lucy would say..."Weeeeee!"

Camping Trip

Back in September we went camping in Townsend with my family. It was right after we got back from the beach so it was a lot to squeeze into one week but I'm so glad we went. It was our first time camping this year and Lucy had a great time!

Myrtle Beach

I'm a little late on posting these but I wanted to put our beach pictures up on the blog :) I guess it's been about three weeks since we went to Myrtle Beach with our friends, Luke and Holly. They got a great deal on a beach condo and we decided to tag along and split the cost.

Baby cousin

Lucy's baby cousin was born today at 1:24 pm. Annabel Andrews weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and was 20 inches long. Congratulations Scott and Ashley! She is beautiful!

She only weighed a few ounces less than Lucy did when she was born but she seemed so tiny. I guess you forget how small they once were :) I didn't get to hold her for very long but she is so sweet!

Bungee Jumping

Lucy and I went to the Mall tonight for a Free Family Fun night sponsored by a church here in town. Josh had to work late so we met some other ladies there from the Moms Group. They had face painting, popcorn, games, and free bungee jumping for the kids. Lucy has seen the trampolines at the mall before and was very curious and tonight she got to try them out! There's a weight minimum of 25 lbs and I think she actually weighs a little less but they let her do it anyway.

All ready to go! You can't tell in this picture but she was excited :)

Flying high! She didn't weigh enough to bring her feet down to the trampoline every time so she kind of just floated in the air but she did great!

Summer Fun!

I hope everyone is having a great Summer! We've been so busy that I haven't been taking a lot of pictures but I wanted to share a few I took of Lucy recently. They are just too cute not to post :) One evening after a family outing to the park we stopped at Sonic to get some ice cream. Josh ordered a pineapple milkshake and thought he would share some with Lucy but that quickly changed when he handed it to her in the backseat...she wouldn't give it back! She loved it!

A couple of weeks ago Scott and Ashley invited us to go out on the boat with them. Lucy didn't have a life jacket to wear so Josh bought one for her that afternoon. I've already tried several flotation devices in the pool this summer (none of which she has liked) so I didn't know what she would think about this one but, surprisingly, she loved it.

It did a really good job of holding her head above the water and she was able to just relax and float on her back.

18 Months!

Time for an update on my little girlie :) At 18 months she can only say a few words but "talks" to herself all the time. Some of the words she can say are Momma, Dada, Papaw, Nana, cheese, juice, bubbles, bow, ball, bug, done, again and most recent, "corn" :) She is doing really well using her sign language when trying to communicate, especially the sign for "please". But she still has plenty of screaming fits too, lol. All four of her 1st year molars have come through in the last couple of months so she now has 10 teeth!
Also, her hair has gotten long enough for me to put it in pigtails. It's so cute but she won't keep it in for long. She also pulls her bows out these days :(

She's obsessed with shoes! If she finds a pair laying around the house she will bring them to you and tries to get you to put them on. She also loves to put them on her feet. We went thrift store shopping recently and I found a pair of snow boots for her to wear this winter. She didn't want to take them off!

She also LOVES going on walks in her stroller but we haven't been doing much of that lately because it's been too hot! Anytime she sees her stroller she points to it and wants to get in.

She's fascinated with bugs. Whenever we see one she points to it and says "budg".

One day we were outside playing in the pool and I showed her this beetle. First she tried to touch it and then she tried to squish it with a stick...lol. Eww...I guess she didn't inherit her Mommy's aversion to bugs.

We are still really enjoying playdates with the MOMs group although we haven't been doing as much stuff with them lately because our schedule has gotten a lot busier this summer.

Last Friday we went to a Recipe Swap Potluck Breakfast. Everybody brought something to share and then we let the kids play afterwards.

There were lots of new toys to play with...Lucy loved it!

She pretty much insists on feeding herself EVERYTHING these days and it is REALLY messy. It always amazes me how little food she manages to get in her mouth. I think it would help if she would learn to use her fork and spoon properly lol

Most of it ends up on her or on the floor...

And she absolutely LOVES to dance! Especially to the Black Eyed Peas...haha. Everytime we turn this song on she goes crazy!

We are really enjoying our little girl at this age but she definitely keeps us on our toes! lol

Trip to Alabama

This past weekend we went down to Fairhope, Alabama for my cousin's wedding. I was a little apprehensive of the nine hour drive with Lucy but she did great! We borrowed a portable DVD player from our friends and she loved it :)

Blueberry Picking

Last week Lucy and I went blueberry picking with the Mom's group at Falls Blueberry Farms here in Maryville. I wasn't sure how many blueberries I would be able to pick with Lucy in tow but she did really good!

She even helped me pick some. She ate most of them but put a few in my bucket :)

It was hot! We went at 9:30 but next time I think we will have to go a little earlier.

I was pretty impressed that I was able to pick this many in the hour and a half that we were there! 2 lbs!

Foamy Fun Playdate

Last week Lucy and I got together with the Maryville Moms group for a foamy fun playdate :) The idea was for the kids to build and shape shaving cream but that proved to be a little difficult...

Garage Sale Finds

Last summer I went to garage sales a lot with my sister Rachel. This year I really haven't made time to go until last Saturday was a week ago...and I'm so glad I did! You know sometimes you find stuff and sometimes you don't. I really lucked out this time. I was looking for some toys for outside and I found a bunch for one or two bucks each!

And I also found this slide at the Goodwill for three dollars :)

The funny thing was on the way home from the Goodwill I saw another slide just like it on the side of the road...

AND this play set. Both were in great condition. So I ended up with two slides and a play set for only three bucks!

When Lucy woke up from her nap that day and came outside she was so excited to see all the new toys in the breezeway :)

I also found these baby dolls for 10 cents each

and a baby carrier (10 cents!)a purse...

And a pair of shoes for next year for only one dollar

I love it when you find great deals...especially stuff that you were already thinking about buying...it feels great to get it for so cheap :)

New Car Seat

So after many months of thinking about what kind of car seat to get for Lucy we finally decided on the Britax Marathon. Believe it or not, up until a week ago, Lucy was still riding in her infant car seat. I knew it would be safer for her to stay rear facing for as long as possible and she just recently reached the maximum weight (22 lbs.) and outgrew her infant seat for good. I really didn't know what kind of car seat to get but I am glad that we decided on a Britax. It seems really comfortable and I know it's one of the safest ones on the market.

This one is called the Marathon. It's nothing fancy but I think it will work just fine... AND I got a good deal on it at Babies R Us. I was really tempted to get the nicer model called the Boulevard but I decided to stick with my original decision :)

It looks SO much bigger in my car than her other car seat and it sits a lot higher up.

I think she is really enjoying facing forward and stays A LOT cooler in this summer heat.

Also it's just in time for a trip that we are going to be taking down to Alabama next week for my cousin's wedding. It's a 9-10 hour drive so I'm sure Lucy will do much better in this car seat. I'm hoping that I can entertain her with a portable DVD player. Anyone have one that I can borrow? :)

Ladybug Playdate

Last week I hosted a playdate at our house for the Maryville Moms Group. The kids did a craft and then we had a picnic lunch.
( Josh recently built a new fence behind our garage...I can't believe how good it makes our patio area look! )

I had such a great time hosting this playdate and shopping at Hobby Lobby for the supplies. It's so fun watching Lucy try new things. She is really enjoying painting and coloring these days :)

The other day I came into Lucy's room to find that she had thrown everything out of her crib after waking up from her nap. She does this quite often now. She tosses everything overboard and then fusses because she wants it back...haha

She has also turned into a paci hog :) As soon as I get her out of the crib she reaches for the little stash of pacis that I keep above her bed.

Silly girl

A couple of weeks ago she had her first self-inflicted injury. I was playing with her near the coffee table and she stumbled and came down on the corner with the side of her head. She bumps her head all the time but she really screamed this time. I noticed blood coming from her ear and it scared me at first because I didn't know if it was coming from the inside but when I looked closer I realized that it had just popped the skin open. I still felt really bad for her because I'm sure her ear was sore for a few days...

Chattanooga

Back at the beginning of June we spent a week in Chattanooga while Josh did a bathroom remodel for his parent's neighbors. One of the guys that works for Josh also came up for the week and brought his wife and daughter. They have a little girl who is four months older than Lucy. Holly is also a good friend of mine and we had a lot of fun doing stuff with the girls while we were there. One day we took the girls to the Chattanooga Discovery Museum.

Afterwards we took the girls down to the area outside of the Chattanooga aquarium to play in the water

We didn't bring their bathing suits so we just stripped them down to their shirts and diapers

The next day we ventured down to Atlanta, Georgia to go to IKEA. I have never been there before so it was a new experience for me. The girls did great (all things considered). It was a pretty long car ride. It ended up taking us about four hours round trip because we ran into traffic on the way back. They didn't have the kid's table and chairs that Holly and I both wanted to get for the girls. It was out of stock :( But I did get a salad spinner for 4 bucks and an art smock for Lucy for 2 bucks.

Thursday we just took it easy and brought Lucy and Hosanna to the play area at the mall.

Later that afternoon we let them play in the water. They had a blast :)

I thought it was so funny that Lucy took a liking to Hosanna's doll stroller while we were there. She literally pushed it all over the house. She has one but she has never shown much interest in it. Now that we're back she plays with hers all the time.

I had a great time hanging out with my friend Holly all week. Unfortunately we didn't see the guys much. They were working hard and had to put in some long days. But it was nice that they were right next door. I would definitely do it again. I felt like I was on vacation all week...minus Josh :)

Family Trip to the Zoo

Wow I've really had a hard time keeping the blog updated with everything that we have been doing lately. It's been such a busy summer so far. A couple of weeks ago Josh and I took Lucy to the zoo. It was so fun :)

Splash Pad

One Sunday evening back in May Josh and I took Lucy to the splash pad at Carl Cowen park. I was surprised how many people were there that late in the day. It was pretty crowded but we still had a lot of fun.

The Graduate

It's a little late but I wanted to say congratulations to my brother for graduating nursing school. Lucy and I went to his pinning ceremony back in May.

He graduated from Roane State Community College and is going to be working in CCU at Blount Memorial Hospital starting next week.

Fire Trucks

Lucy and I went with the Maryville Moms group on a field trip to the fire station a couple of weeks ago. I told Lucy that morning that we were going to see the firetrucks and she responded with "vroom vroom" :)

She loved standing on the firetruck...

Savannah Anniversary Trip

I started this post about three weeks ago and never finished it. I haven't had much time for blogging lately so I am going to attempt to play catch up. Back in May Josh and I took a trip to Savannah, Georgia for our anniversary. Unfortunately I didn't get very many pictures while we were there partly because I didn't feel like putting forth the effort ( sad I know ) and partly because our camera just wasn't cooperating ( time for a new one )...haha. but we had a great time! Savannah is such a beautiful city and there was really too much to see and do for the two days that we were there. I really want to go back :) We spent our first day sleeping in, lol and then went out to eat at this really cool restaurant called the Pirate's house...

Afterwards we went for a walk down River Street

River Street is a cobblestone road that runs right along the river with lots of fun shops and restaurants. This picture does not do it justice...haha

The next day we took a trolley tour of the city and visited some of the historic homes and the Savannah History Museum. I especially enjoyed touring the homes. The history behind them is so fascinating. We went to the Davenport House and the Owens-Thomas House. Both of them were so neat!

Later that night we met up with Josh's Aunt and Uncle who live in Savannah. We haven't seen them since our wedding so it was great to spend some time with them and catch up.Uncle George, Josh's cousin Megan and her boyfriend, and Aunt Carol

On our way home Sunday we stopped at the Wormsloe Plantation. The mile long drive to the entrance was lined with 4oo live oaks. It was so beautiful.

And of course I couldn't do a post without including a few pictures of our little cutie pie. Lucy stayed with Josh's parents while we were in Savannah. She did great and I didn't miss her as much as I thought I would. It was the longest time that I have gone without seeing her but I knew that she was having a blast. Funny Faces

Lucy has recently started doing this funny thing with her lips where she tries to suck them up to her nose. When I first noticed her doing it I thought it was so funny because Josh does the same thing sometimes...lol. Now we kind of encourage it because it's so cute! :) I tried to get a picture of it one day after she woke up from her nap...you'll have to excuse the crazy hair :)

Trip to the Zoo

Last week Lucy and I went to the zoo. I have been wanting to get a pass for a while now so I figured I would get one this year while Lucy still gets in for free. I got a dual membership (which includes an unnamed adult) so if any of my friends out there want to go with us sometime let me know. We had so much fun! Lucy "talked" to every animal she saw :)

They had all kinds of fun things for the kids to do in the Wee Play Zoo. The area pictured below was set up like a barn and they had some bunnies in an enclosure. Lucy talked to them nonstop. Well...it was more like squawking, lol

Field Trip

Last Friday I took Lucy to the Children's Museum in Oak Ridge. We went with the M.O.Ms group that I have been doing stuff with for the last month or so. I wasn't sure how interesting it would be for Lucy but they actually had a lot of stuff for little kids to do and to look at.

This was the Waterworks room. There were several large containers filled with water all joined together with plastic boats and rubber duckies. They had aprons for the kids to wear to keep them from getting soaked.

The Museum also had a life size doll house for little kids. It was so neat! The kitchen counters were just their size and I don't know if you can tell but over to the right there was a living room with kid size furniture. There was even an upstairs.
