My little artist

Lucy has never been one to draw anything on her own. She always wants "Mommy or Daddy to do it". She'll say "You draw it" or "You color it" while she sits there and watches. But recently she grabbed a piece of paper and drew this...

 

When I asked her what it was she said "It's a picture of you and me" lol...(I'm assuming I'm the one on the right). I was pretty impressed that she gave me two eyes, a nose, and a mouth. She even drew legs and feet! :)

I think it's all that practice with lines and circles and loops and curls from the Usborne books :) It must be giving her more confidence.

And a couple of weeks ago she drew this on the chalkboard and said it was an octopus lol

 

I think this might have been her first "drawing".

I love how she's getting creative and drawing on her own. So proud! :)

Sweet Siblings

 Lucy is such a sweet big sister!...(well, most of the time lol ) As Owen has gotten older it's been so much fun to watch them interact. Here's a few pictures from the last couple of months...

Great Nana

 My sweet Nana recently passed away after being sick for the last few months. She was 94 years old. She had four children, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Here are some pictures of Great Nana and Lucy taken almost three years ago . (We named Lucy after her great grandmother, Lucille )

7 Months Old!

 It's hard to believe my little baby is 7 months old! This boy loves to eat! I started introducing solid food when he was about 6 months old and it didn't take him long to get the hang of it :) He can easily eat 3 big jars of baby food in one sitting.

 He cut his first tooth about 6 weeks ago. I was kind of surprised because Lucy didn't have any teeth until she was 8 months old. But now he has both of his bottom teeth and I'm pretty sure he's cutting more...

  He also had his first doctor's appointment at 6 months. He weighed 17.5 lbs and was 24 inches long. I love my big boy! :)

 Things Owen is doing at 7 months: 

• Reaching for everything in sight
• Rolling over and starting to scoot around the floor 
• Putting his paci in his mouth by himself
• Sitting up with a little support 
• Watching everything his big sister does :)  
• Wearing 12 month clothes!

"School"

I recently bought some really neat books from a company called Usborne. Lucy and I have been working together on them about 30 min a day and we've been calling it "school".  Actually she wants to do them all the time ( she even climbed up on the computer desk to get them off the shelf lol ) To say that she is loving it is an understatement! I've really been enjoying it too. It's so fun to watch her learn. It makes me look forward to homeschooling her one day :)

One of the books I bought is all about the human body. It teaches everything about muscles, bones, organs etc. I chose it because someone recently asked Lucy where her heart was and she pointed to her shoulder lol. Some of the information is a little advanced for Lucy's age but I've been amazed at how much she's picked up on.

This page talks about your heart and lungs and
 how they help you stay alive.

This page talks all about food 
and where it goes after you eat it.

Here's a page out of the sticker book. Even though she's already familiar with articles of clothing, we've been learning where they go on your body... pants go on your "waist", shoes go below your "ankle"etc.

The "Ready for Writing" book is probably her favorite. It came with a dry erase marker that lets her practice drawing shapes and lines.

There's a section in the back of the book that gives them a few letters to practice. I'm amazed at how well she's done.

To blog or not to blog...

Well to say that I'm behind on blogging is an understatement. It's one of those luxuries that I just haven't made time for in the past year with all the craziness going on around here. Adjusting to life with two kiddos has been quite challenging. Every time I thought I would start back up again I wasn't sure where to start. I'm sad for all the things I've missed blogging about but can't wait to jump back in. So here goes...  :)
