First Camping Trip

Last weekend we went camping at Tims Ford State Park in Winchester, TN. It was Lucy's first camping experience. We have been wanting to go all summer so we finally took the opportunity to go with Josh's dad and some friends from Chattanooga. It was a little chilly but we stayed in a pop-up camper and had a heater going at night. Lucy did great and really seemed to enjoy it :)

She loved watching the campfire. Here she is with Josh's dad (Pawpaw)
Saturday we drove over to Lynchburg, TN to the 21st Annual Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue. Barbecue teams from around the world come to compete for cash prizes and bragging rights. There were people set up everywhere cooking barbecue.
There were also games, cloggers, country music, funnel cakes, a country dog contest, and free tours of the Jack Daniel distillery. An estimated 25,ooo people come to this event every year.
We stopped at the 4-H display so Lucy could see the animals :)

Checking out all the animals...horses, bunnies, goats, chickens and roosters.

This was the main pavilion were all the judging was done. They judged a different category every 30 minutes (chicken, brisket, ribs etc.) If you hung around long enough they would give out free samples.
...taking a break from all the excitement :)

After all the judging was finished they started handing out the leftovers.
...standing in line for some yummy barbecue

pooped out :)

When we got back to the campground we went next door to the neighbors camper to watch the UT/Alabama game. Now that Lucy can crawl around she gets tired of being held so I set up a blanket with some toys to try and keep her occupied. She's not much of a football fan, lol

silly Daddy put a caterpillar on her head...
she didn't seem to mind :)
I can't wait to go camping again. It was so much fun!

Teething Biscuits

I recently discovered that teething biscuits will keep Lucy happy and occupied for 30 minutes at a time. I also discovered that they are a real mess :)
Josh's mom has been looking for these everywhere. I finally found some at Walmart the other day. Lucy loves gnawing on them and they don't break apart. They just dissolve into a gooey mess. I was pretty overwhelmed by the stickiness on her hands, arms, face, forehead and hair so I stuck her straight in the bathtub :) (click on the picture below for a close up and you will see what i mean)

"Mr. Kitty"

Our cat Gus, a.k.a "Mr. Kitty" is an extremely affectionate cat and loves attention. Lucy loves animals and gets really excited when she sees one. We sat Lucy down in the grass one day and it didn't take long for Gus to start rubbing up against her.
Here's Lucy smiling and reaching for Mr. Kitty...
Here's "Mr. Kitty" trying to get some attention...
poor Lucy got knocked over ...lol

Teeth!

About a week ago I was wiping off Lucy's mouth and I felt something sharp... a tooth! A couple of days later I noticed she had a second tooth coming in right beside it.
Have you ever tried to get a baby to open their mouth for a picture? Lucy didn't want to have anything to do with this photo op and she was very persistent. I tried tempting her with food but she was too smart for that...lol

I finally got one...You can barely see her two bottom teeth coming through the gums :)

Eight Months Old!

Lucy turned eight months old last Thursday! She has become very mobile this past month. She has learned to sit up on her own, pull up to a standing position, and is practicing crawling on her hands and knees. She is such a happy baby and such a sweetie. She sure makes it easy to enjoy motherhood :) It's hard to get a good picture of her these days because she just starts crawling away...

Lucy has started to notice her reflection in the trashcan. She gets really excited and tries to talk to the "baby"...I wish I could have gotten it on video, it's so funny
When I'm on the computer Lucy crawls up to the chair and tries to climb up my legs. So one day I sat her in the chair with me and she kicked so much it literally pushed me out of the chair.
She looks happy to be in the chair by herself...
One Sunday after church Josh's dad came over for a visit and brought ice cream. Pawpaw says "Nothing is too good for my granddaughter"... even Haagen Dazs.
...mm yummy
Pawpaw also bought Lucy a walker a couple of weeks ago. Even though our house is a little small for her to walk all over the place she loves being with me when I'm in the kitchen.
She also likes to play with my measuring cups and spoons

Standing Up

Two days ago I walked into Lucy's room to get her up from her morning nap and she was standing up holding onto the side of the crib. She has been practicing pulling up on things for several weeks now but this was the first time (other than one occasion) that she has been successful. And the first time she has stood up in the crib. She has been pulling up on things ever since. The bathtub, the coffee table, the couch and me...ha ha. Seriously she will crawl up to me and try to climb up my legs :)

It seems like she learned how to do this overnight. Even though she has been practicing for several weeks, all of the sudden something "clicked" and now she can do it with no problem. I think it's cute how much she is smiling and laughing in this video. I think she is proud of herself :)

Girl Time

Last week Lucy had some "girl time" with her friends Libby and Hosanna. We got together at Shannon's house and had lunch and then let the girls play. Lucy is the only baby that wasn't crawling on her hands and knees so she had a hard time keeping up with her friends.

...but she had fun playing with all the new toys

hmm...something new

We tried to get a picture of all of the girls together but they kept crawling away...lol
Libby is on the left and Hosanna is on the right :)

I thought this picture was cute because this blanket doesn't even belong to Lucy. She just picked it up and started chewing on it...haha
Thanks for letting us come over to your house Shannon...we had a great time!
