Birthday Weekend

Last Saturday, despite all the snow, we had a birthday party for Lucy at Josh's brother's house. Everybody had to leave a little early to avoid the icy roads but overall it went great! Lucy had a blast!

This little girl LOVES pizza!
Yum!
Trying to get PawPaw to stick his tongue out...lol
Playing with some of the toys that were there...
Lucy and her friend Libby
Opening presents...
Cousins Noah and Weston
She loves this Fisher Price Laugh and Learn purse that she got from Gavin and Libby...thanks guys!

Time for cake!
"Happy Birthday to You..."
Wanting to touch the candle...
The first thing she did was stick her face in the cake for a mouthful of icing and then she leaned over to give Josh a kiss...so cute!

She doesn't like getting her hands messy so we tried a fork :)
After several bites she had had enough...lol
She would NOT hold still for a family picture...I think she just wanted to get down and play :)
For some more REALLY cute pictures of Lucy's party check out my friend's website. Her name is Holly and she takes amazing pics :)

Because of the bad weather we decided to spend the night with Scott and Ashley.
Lucy had fun playing on their air mattress while we were blowing it up...
just "monkeying" around :)
Getting pushed around in her doll stroller by Pawpaw
Story time with "Pops"
Getting ready to play in the snow
Riding the four wheeler with Daddy
We went sledding Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Sledding down the big hill with "Pops"
Getting pulled back up :)
Lucy fell asleep on the sled while Josh's Dad was pulling her back up the hill :)
Getting ready to go with Daddy...
Josh pulled Lucy and Libby around in the snow at the top of the hill.
"having fun?"

It was a long walk back up the hill...

I'm not sure the last time that I have had the opportunity to go sledding. Scott and Ashley have a great hill on a vacant piece of property in their neighborhood. It was so much fun! And I think Lucy enjoyed it too. It took her a little while to warm up to the idea but towards the end she was asking for more :) What a fun weekend!

Happy Birthday Lucy!

Yesterday was Lucy's birthday! Josh's Mom was in town so we decided to have a girl's lunch at the Tomato Head. (There isn't much to do in the winter time for a one year old) We thought about taking her to the zoo but it was too cold.
I got this shirt for her a couple of months ago at the Carter's outlet. Isn't it cute? :)
Getting ready to eat a sugar cookie...
Mmm...

Yummy cheese quesadilla

After we left the Tomato Head we went to Chick-Fil-A for some ice cream.

messy face :)

Later that night...
Josh was helping me put Lucy to bed by reading her some books and they both fell asleep in the recliner. Lucy was worn out from her birthday weekend and I guess Josh was too :)

Looking Back...

A year ago today was my due date! As you know Lucy ended up coming a little later than expected but I am really glad that she didn't wait too long to come and I was able to go into labor on my own. The picture below was taken just a few days before Lucy was born.

11 Months....a bit late

Well Lucy has been 11 months for a couple weeks now but I haven't found the time to make a post because things have been a little crazy around here. And by crazy I mean sickness and teething. I've been sick with a cold and sinus congestion for about a month and Lucy has not been her usual self. I can only assume that she has been teething although I still haven't seen any teeth yet. She is constantly chewing on her top lip and has not been able to rest well. Thankfully she has gotten back on schedule this past week and I'm finally feeling better too.
(notice the lip... :)
It seems like she has learned so many new things this past month or maybe it's just because she is acting older. Although she hasn't said her first words yet she communicates a lot by pointing and saying "dyah" when she wants something. And when you ask her stuff it sounds like she says "yeah" in response. She also has become really fond of story time. The first thing she does when she wakes up is point in the direction of her books and says "dyah". Her favorite book right now is "The Foot Book" by Dr. Suess. She loves her juice bottle and is not at all interested in drinking cow's milk from a bottle or a sippy cup. A couple of weeks ago she took her first steps but is still a little timid when it comes to walking and hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet.

It's hard to believe that in a little over a week from now my baby is going to be a year old! I was going to start planning her party the first of this month but because of being sick I got a little behind schedule. Sorry for those of you who haven't received the invitation yet (they're in the mail...) Hopefully I'll be able to post some more pictures soon!

Little Snow Bunny

I can't believe that we have had snow on the ground for three days! I finally got Lucy out to play in it on Friday. She is actually wearing an outfit that one of my friends gave me when I was pregnant. I think it is supposed to be for babies age 0-3 months but she didn't get a chance to wear it last year and it still fits.
Lucy quickly realized that she couldn't move very well in her snowsuit (notice her trying to bend over ) and then tried to pull the mittens off with her teeth :)
After just sitting in the snow for the longest time she decided to try and crawl through it.
opening her mouth for a taste of snow....
...I had to help her since her hands were all covered up
One of the neighbor girls came over and let us use her sled. I sat Lucy in it but when I pulled it just a little she fell backwards and just laid there without moving. She must have figured it wasn't worth the effort.

After about 30 minutes of being outside I think her face must have frozen in place because I couldn't get any expressions out of her...lol It was like she was in a trance. I don't think she knew what to think of her first sledding experience.

I hope she warms up to the idea of playing in the snow because we are going on a ski trip in February.

Walking Practice

Our friends, Luke and Holly, recently loaned us this Fisher Price Walk N' Ride toy. So Sunday I was helping Lucy practice her walking skills and she loved it. She pushed it around the house for about 30 minutes.

It also converts to a riding toy. She wasn't a big fan of riding the little car...actually she got off all by herself :)
I love this little girl...
looking under the hood... :)

On a side note...my poor baby got beat up in children's ministry on Sunday. It was so pitiful. I went to pick her up from her class after church and her face was all red and she had scratches on both sides of her face. She just got moved up to the next class so all the kids in there are older than her. Looks like we are going to need to teach her to fight back...lol

Later that night she woke up around 11pm (after I had already laid her down for the night) and she was WIDE awake. She was playing with her exersaucer and was so energetic I had a feeling that she might try walking to me. I think all that "walking practice" earlier in the evening gave her the confidence to take a few steps. She did better on the first try but this video still captures some of her attempts :)
I have to say as excited as I was for her to walk to me I got a little emotional as soon as she did. It's like all of the sudden it hit me how quickly she is growing up and her first birthday is right around the corner. Slow down little baby...Mommy loves you and you are growing up so fast :(
